Happy new year to you all! :) Wow, can you believe that it is already 2013? I sure can't.
This year is bound to be full of new adventure for me. Not necessarily the adventures that I had planned (but really, planned adventures aren't always as fabulous as those that you find unexpectantly), but full of the possibilities for adventure!
Originally I had planned to save up money like mad, and bugger off overseas where I can spread my wings, and live like the gypsy I had always wanted to live like (with many more showers though) and embark on what was sure to be the beginning of the great love of my life, a big wide world to roam.
HOWEVER, as always, life takes an unexpected turn. My little sister has just gotten engaged, and has asked me to be her bridesmaid. Amazing really, so in no way a terrible turn. Just an unexpected one.
So I will ofcourse be sticking around to help her out, and soon after the wedding in just over a year, I will take flight on my original course (life pending).
I am a big believer in everything happening for a reason, so it appears, that for the time being, I am in the right place, the place I need to be in.
SO - all of this has made me contemplate what the year ahead might look like now. First and foremost it will be about getting myself a full time social work job. With a year to gain experience, this is a biggy. I am exceptionally nervous about it though, being that it seems to be the final fronteer of becoming an adult, not something I am necessarily keen on. (you know, aside from moving out of home, which I do often when I move overseas each time anyway, so atleast I will get an opportunity to do some serious savings this year).
Secondly, I am making it the year of Ruby. This year I want to take more time for myself. Sure it sounds like every other new years resolution that people make, lose weight, get fit, blah blah blah. But I am not looking at it that way. I am looking more at my mental health, take yoga classes, meditate, do more of the things I love like photography, camping. If I am able to get into a 9-5 job (lets see how that will go...) I will have weekends suddenly freed up (that never happens for me!!) and can whisk myself away with my new swag (thanks santa!) and my camera and explore and immerse myself back in nature.
Also it means no more night time work either. Wahoo! think of the time I can spend now reading books (other than text books for uni) and spending time with friends over coffees, and time for bubble baths, and general RnR that I never used to have time for.
Corny really, but its those small things that I am seriously looking forward to.
I will also be embarking on another blog type adventure with my sister. She wants to start blogging about lingerie and swimwear for every body type, so this will be a new venture to tackle I suppose. Let's see how that pans out!!
I wish you all a wonderful new year, and amazing adventures that the year has to bring :)
Here is a little song to start you off for the new year, I know I love it!!
